Art For Food Studio Clearance Sale
One of the first events I have planned for this year is a studio clearance sale on Sunday, the 3rd of February 2019 between 11am and 3pm.
I’m not particularly unusual amongst artists to be guilt of holding on to stuff, all kinds of stuff. Prints, frames – wrong size, wrong moulding, ideas tried and rejected – lack of time, impracticality, things I’ve held onto because they ‘might come in useful’ at some point in time!
There comes a time when space and the lack of it, becomes an issue. I’ve reached that point … again!
We all know the psychological as well as the practical benefits of decluttering to clear the mind (and the space) and make way for new ideas and new work. Here’s a list of the kinds of things I’m clearing out:
- Unsold original and giclée prints
- Old frames
- Glass coaster seconds
- End of line jewellery
- End of line greeting cards
- End of line floral mini prints
- End of line table lamp and coasters
- Box packaging in various sizes from jewellery boxes to pizza box size – could make good craft projects
- Handmade boxes and note books
- Artist miscellany
Incentives to help me clear space and reduce landfill.
- Significant price reductions
- 30% of the sales total will go to The West Northumberland Food Bank here in the Tyne Valley.
The West Northumberland Food Bank
West Northumberland Foodbank is a charity based in Hexham. Sad though it is that such a charity is even necessary, The West Northumberland Food Bank provides a safety net for people in hardship throughout this part of Northumberland. The volunteers collect and distribute food donations and other household essentials. They also offer support with benefits and debt problems to help people get back on their feet.
I’m holding this event partly, to keep the profile of the West Northumberland Food Bank in the forefront of local people’s minds. Universal Credit began to be rolled out here in Northumberland in December and over the Christmas, January/February period the charity is expecting to have an increased uptake from people whose lives will be impacted by the new changes to benefits. There but for the grace of God and all that …
If you are interested to know more about who The West Northumberland Food Bank sets out to help and how, follow this link.
Their service is free to access and they place no limits on use.
N.B. Current product lines will also be available but not at reduced prices.
