Future Plans for Workshops

This year his nibs and I have been consolidating the gains we’ve made – we’ve come a long way in the last three years.

This spring, alongside getting ready for exhibitions and The British Craft Trade Fair, I planned in four workshops through to June with more to follow.

The first three were fully booked in a short space of time. The first two have since taken place. They’ve been very well received. The third one will run at the end of this month. This one, ‘Printmaking Fusion’ happens to have a space on it as I have had an unexpected cancellation. Get in touch if you want to book it. Here’s some quotes from satisfied participants.

“Thank you for your brilliant hospitality and catering in your home and studio – an excellent weekend learning how to make the plates and discovering ways of inking and layering.”

“Excellent course! The best things about the course were Carol’s excellent tuition, meeting the other students and sharing ideas. I will definitely come again.”

In the planning of the rest of the year’s workshops I’ve taken the decision not to run any during the summer. It has proved time and again to be the time of the lowest demand while the autumn and spring continue to be popular times of the year for my courses.

As things get busier work wise on all fronts I need to take decisions that will ensure I put my efforts into the times of the year that are most productive for workshops so I can use the times when there is less demand for teaching into other areas of what I do.

I continue to look for an opportunity to do a longer holiday type workshop somewhere inspirational. I personally love the Hebrides but I’m also considering other places like somewhere just outside Barcelona. It’s not going to happen this year but maybe next year. Where would you like to go if you had the choice? Have you done a creative course somewhere foreign? Where did you go? What did you do? What was/were the best thing(s) about it? Leave your comment below.

Of course, if there are groups or organisations who want me to run a bespoke workshop I am more than happy to discuss it.
